 Things Not to Forget

  • Earplugs
We have some of these and they're great
  • Light
The Zipka is so handy as its small, powerful and you can wear it on your head or wrist.
  • Photo backup plan
  • Too many people fall foul of the corruption gods (or thieves) and lose photos. We had a multilevel approach putting photos online (flickr.com) as often as possible while also downloading the memory cards regularly to a portable hard drive device and burning DVD copies (one to carry one to post) regularly.
  • Memory Key with applications
So useful in internet cafes with slow connections. Put some applications on it and you are away. (Start Here)

    Backup on bike

    - Skype
    - Firefox portable
    - Flash card file recovery program (because cards do get corrupt but you can save your shots)
    - Photo resizing software
    - Scans of your passport, travel insurance and visas
    - Some music for those noisy internet cafes
    - IM client
  • Quality quick drying clothes
We have found our investment in these high tech materials to be worth every cent. Materials like Capliene/Dri fit/Coolmax make travelling some much more comfortable in all conditions.
  • Point It Book
This little gem never leaves my pocket. Invaluable for working out which animal those eyeballs are from in the night market (+ heaps of other food/accom/item photos to help you out)
  • Some Swag from home
Don't underestimate the power of some postcards, keyrings and pins from home to bridge communication gaps, entertain and reward new friends
  • Pocket Calculators
One each , always on the ready for negotiating hotels or that nice new beer Laos t-shirt.
  • Noise reducing headphones + mp3 player
These headphones are the business for train or planes. Compact, great sound and they let you switch off from all around you. We have Etymotic ER6i.
  •

Marcus Carries...(Now its worth noting our approach here. We are carrying more than we need, in sme cases twice as much clothes - this is using some logic that stuff will break/wear out and we will need to replace, which is difficult for this type of stuff in these sizes...hence the extra pants, t-shirts etc.
We are also packing for all climates)
